Santa Barbara Vintners Presents: Santa Maria Valley & Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay & Pinot Noir Comparative Tasting

Join us at The Ballard Inn for an exploration of the wines of Santa Maria Valley and Sta. Rita Hills, two unique AVAs both known for their world class Chardonnay & Pinot Noir.  In this casual walk-around tasting, attendees will the sample the different expressions side by side and learn from the winemakers themselves what makes these wines so beautiful, yet distinctly different. Canapes will be prepared to match the wines by Award-Winning Chef Lincoln Carson. 
 
Featured Santa Maria Valley producers include Bien Nacido Estate, FOXEN Vineyard & Winery,  Rancho Sisquoc, and Rusack Vineyards. Featured Sta. Rita Hills producers include Alma Rosa Winery, Margerum Wine Co., The Hilt Estate, and Gainey Vineyard.

Guided Hike with Midland (Saturday, September 30th • 9 - 11 a.m.)

Enjoy a student lead hike through Lovers Loop on the Midland School Trail System, discovering the local flora and fauna along the trail.

The Midland School trails are a private trail system opened to the public through the generosity of the school. Permits must be obtained prior to heading out on the trails.

Hikers must fill out a permit and parking pass at the trail heads, where permit boxes are located. Fill out your permit and place in your vehicle before returning to the permit box where you will meet your guide. 

The Guided Hike with Midland School will meet at the Grass Mountain Trailhead on Figueroa Mountain Road.

Build Your Own "Chato" Wine Tumbler (Saturday, Sept. 30th • 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.)

Get your hands dirty with Community Clayworks! During this 2-hour workshop, you will create a ceramic "chato," a Spaniard style wine glass to take home with you. Your finished piece will be available for pick up at the studio 2 weeks later, or can be shipped via request. No experience necessary!

Guests will also enjoy wine tasting featuring Tomi Cellars. 

The Create Your Own Chato Class will take place at Community Clayworks at 37 Industrial Way Suite 111, Buellton, CA 93427.

Stolpman Hike with Wine Tasting (Sunday, October 1st • 9 - 11 a.m.)

Join us for an educational walk through our Ballard Canyon Vineyard, followed by a tasting of Stolpman wines hosted by Peter Stolpman.  

The walk and tasting is roughly 2 hours long through up and down rolling hills. We highly recommend bringing layers & comfy, closed toe shoes/boots!

Check our local forecast for appropriate attire. Water will be provided.

Follow the signs that say Love Our Vines and Picnic Area This Way - follow those for about 5 minutes and you should see the picnic area below the Oak Tree.
