Los Alamos Wine Tasting Reception (Thursday, September 26th, 4 - 5:30 p.m.)


Enjoy wines from the Los Alamos region and Santa Maria Valley, along with local bites. Must be 21+ to participate.

The Los Alamos Wine Tasting Reception will take place at The Maker’s Son (346 Bell St, Los Alamos, CA 93440) from 4 - 5:30 p.m. 

This ticket does not include entry into the Los Alamos Dinner. 

Los Alamos Dinner (Thursday, September 26th, 6 - 8 p.m.)


Pull up a chair for a seated dinner served at a lengthy communal table, open-air, in the middle of Los Alamos’ Bell Street, featuring Full of Life Flatbread, Bell’s, PICO, Plenty on Bell, and Bob’s Well Bread Bakery, with Santa Maria and Los Alamos wines from 6 - 8 p.m. Dinner will be served family style. Dinner will be paired with Los Alamos and Santa Maria Valley wines. 

Must be 21+ to participate.

This ticket includes the Los Alamos Tasting Reception that begins at 4 p.m. at The Maker’s Son.  

The Los Alamos Dinner will take place on Bell Street in front of Ferrini Park (267 Bell Street, Los Alamos) from 6 - 8 p.m. 

Vino Vaqueros Horseback Riding (Friday, September 27th, 9 - 11 a.m.)


Since 2009 Vino Vaqueros Horseback Riding has been the Santa Barbara Wine Country’s original private horseback riding experience.

Each private, 75-90 minute guided ride takes you through the most breathtaking scenery the Santa Ynez Valley has to offer.

The ride concludes with a wine tasting.

Guests will meet at 2178 Mora Ave, Santa Ynez, CA 93460. 

Must be 21+ to participate in the wine tasting.

Yoga in the Vineyard (Friday, September 27th, 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.)


Vineyard Yoga SYV connects yoga enthusiasts with the natural world by experiencing the beauty of the Santa Ynez Valley.

Enjoy a 1-hour feel good yoga class at Sunstone Winery with a glass of wine or hemp THC-spritz tasting flight on the cave top terrace, following the class.

Please bring a yoga mat, water and sunblock, a blanket or towel to put under your mat, yoga props you may like to use (block, strap, blanket, etc.).

Must be 21+ to participate in the wine or hemp THC-spritz tasting flight.

Olive Oil Tasting (Friday, September 27th, 11am - 12pm)

Come enjoy the beauty and flavors of Olive + Lavender Farms! Join them on their outdoor patio for an olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting led by one of the owners. You’ll taste all 10 of their products with Bob’s Well Bread ciabatta followed by a small walk of the property, which opened to the public in November 2022 and has been growing ever since. All ages are welcome and a selection of complimentary beverages will be provided - beer, wine, soda, and water. 
This event will take place at Olive + Lavender, 2450 Alamo Pintado Rd, Los Olivos, CA 93441. 

Los Olivos Wine Tasting Reception (Friday, September 27th, 4 - 5:30 p.m.)


Enjoy wines from Los Olivos, Ballard Canyon, Santa Ynez, and Happy Canyon, along with local bites at the Coquelicot Tasting Room Courtyard from 4 - 5:30 p.m. Participants to be announced.

The Coquelicot Tasting Room is located at 2884 Grand Avenue, Los Olivos, CA 93441. 

Must be 21+ to participate. 

This does not include entry to the Los Olivos Dinner. 

Los Olivos Dinner (Friday, September 27th, 6 - 8 p.m.)


Pull up a chair for a seated dinner served at a lengthy communal table, open-air on Grand Avenue. The iconic downtown street will feature dinner by Mattei’s Tavern,  Bar Le Cote, Nella Kitchen & Bar, Los Olivos Wine Merchant Café, and Enjoy Cupcakes from 6 - 8 p.m. Dinner will be paired with wines from Los Olivos and Ballard Canyon. Dinner will be served family style. 

This ticket includes entry to the Los Olivos Wine Tasting Reception at Coquelicot Tasting Room Courtyard from 4 - 5:30 p.m.

The Los Olivos Dinner will take place on Grand Avenue by Saarloos & Sons (2971 Grand Ave, Los Olivos, CA 93441) from 6 - 8 p.m.

Must be 21+ to participate in the Wine Tasting. 

Guided Hike with Midland (Saturday, September 30th, 9 - 11 a.m.)


Enjoy a student lead hike through Lovers Loop on the Midland School Trail System, discovering the local flora and fauna along the trail.

The Midland School trails are a private trail system opened to the public through the generosity of the school. Permits must be obtained prior to heading out on the trails.

Hikers must fill out a permit and parking pass at the trail heads, where permit boxes are located. Fill out your permit and place in your vehicle before returning to the permit box where you will meet your guide. 

The Guided Hike with Midland School will meet at the Grass Mountain Trailhead on Figueroa Mountain Road.

Breakfast Ride - Horseback (Saturday, September 28th, 7:15 - 11:15 a.m.)


Explore the great outdoors at Alisal Ranch via horseback through the property, followed by a classic cowboy breakfast. All horseback riders will need to check in for the ride between 7:15am and 7:45am depending on rider level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced). 

The Alisal Ranch is located at 1054 Alisal Rd., Solvang.

Breakfast Ride - Haywagon (Saturday, September 28th, 8:30 - 10:45 a.m.)


Explore the great outdoors at Alisal Ranch via a wagon ride through the property, followed by a classic cowboy breakfast.

Zipline with Highline Adventures (Saturday, September 28th, 9 - 11 a.m.)


Experience 3 of the biggest and fastest ziplines in California! 

The tour starts with check-in and ground school at basecamp. After gearing up, enjoy a 4x4 tour to the top of the ranch, gaining over 1,000 feet of vertical and a drive through our protea flower fields.

At the top, our highly trained guides will get you ready for an amazing zipline experience with spectacular views of the Santa Ynez Valley! Tours last about 2 hours.

Make the Perfect Cup - Ceramics Class (Saturday, Sept. 28th, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.)


Join us at Community Clayworks and get your hands dirty! In this 2-hour workshop, you'll learn to create a coffee mug from scratch using slabs of clay. Customize your piece with unique surface decorations by designing and printing with your own stencil. Your finished masterpiece will be ready for pick-up at the studio in 2 weeks, or we can ship it to you upon request. No experience necessary—just bring your creativity and enthusiasm!

Little King Coffee will offer a coffee tasting featuring three single origin coffees from different parts of the world. Guests will have the opportunity to watch a pour over demonstration and learn to discern the unique flavor profiles that showcase different growing regions.

Come learn how to up your home coffee game and create your own personalized cup for those future brews! 

The class will take place at Community Clayworks at 37 Industrial Way Suite 111, Buellton, CA 93427. 

Franc & Blanc Tasting (Saturday, September 28th, 1 - 4 p.m.)


Nestled amongst ancient oaks, with sweeping views of the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley, this will be an unique tasting to not miss. Inspired by the Franc Fest Tastings previously held in the Santa Ynez Valley, Franc & Blanc is a reincarnated and newly improved tasting that highlights one of the most beguiling, intriguing and most successful red Bordeaux grapes grown here in the eastern edges of the Santa Ynez Valley – Cabernet Franc. Wineries from all over Santa Barbara Wine Country will convene at Gainey Estate Vineyards for a special tasting focusing on Cabernet Franc and other Blanc based wines like Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc. There will be highly curated food matched to these wines along with live music.

Santa Ynez Tasting Reception and Dinner (Saturday, Sept. 28th, 5:30 - 8:00 pm)


Indulge in an unforgettable evening at Sunstone Winery’s Wine Cave. Join us for an exclusive, multi-course, family-style dinner at a grand long table, set for just 100 guests. Each course, crafted by a Santa Ynez Chef, will be perfectly paired with Sunstone’s wines.

Begin your night with a sparkling reception in the courtyard, before strolling through the tasting room to the enchanting cave where dinner awaits. Experience the allure of their exceptional wines, enchanting ambiance, and delicious Santa Ynez cooking that truly reflects our local scene.

Must be 21+ to participate.

The Santa Ynez Dinner will take place at Sunstone Winery, with a reception starting at 5 p.m. and dinner from 6 to 8 p.m.


Saarloos & Sons Walk with Wine Tasting (Sunday, September 29th, 8 - 11 a.m.)


Join us for an educational vineyard walk followed by a tasting of Sarloos & Sons wines, hosted by winemaker and proprieter, Keith Saarloos.  

Starting with an enlightening vineyard walk, we'll explore the vineyard's picturesque landscape. Guests will learn about the unique terroir and sustainable practices that shape each harvest. Keith will share insights and stories, enriching the journey from ground to glass. The walk will culminate in a tasting that embodies the essence of the vineyard. 

The walk and tasting is roughly 3 hours long through up and down rolling hills. We highly recommend bringing layers & comfy, closed toe shoes/boots!

Watercolor Painting in the Vineyard (Sunday, Sept. 29th, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm)


Grab a glass of wine and a paintbrush at the picturesque Kaena at the Ranch!

Not just another paint and sip class, this is a full-sensory experience. Our watercolor class will guide you through a painting of Kaena Winery on professional watercolor paper. The outlined image will be provided for you so you can enjoy this stress-free experience learning watercolor techniques, tips and tricks surrounded by the beauty of the vineyard.

Don’t consider yourself an artist just yet? Don’t worry. Our trained artist will walk you through the entire painting process step-by-step. No previous painting experience necessary. You’ll be amazed at what you can create in just a few hours- even if you’ve never picked up a paintbrush in your life!

Your experience includes a tasting of Kaena wine and all the supplies necessary to create your landscape masterpiece.

This class will take place at Kaena at the Ranch, 800 E Hwy 246, Solvang, CA 93463.

Sideways 20th Anniversary Festival (Sunday, September 29th, 12 - 3 p.m.)


Join us in Buellton at Hitching Post II, an iconic location featured in the award winning film Sideways as we celebrate the film's 20th anniversary! There will be bites from Hitching Post 2, Buellton restaurants, and Sta. Rita Hills and Buellton wine, beer, and live music. We will have Instagramable moments from the film scattered throughout the venue and an appearance by Virginia Madsen.

Tickets to Sideways 20th Anniversary Festival include tickets to the Sideways Film Screening at Solvang Festival Theater in the evening, 5pm - 9pm.

Sideways 20th Anniversary Screening (Sunday, September 29th, 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.)


Enjoy a tasting and bites from local restaurants (including 3 Michelin rated locales) prior to a screening of the iconic film Sideways, filmed here in the Santa Ynez Valley, at Solvang Festival Theater. Virginia Madsen will introduce the film.

Tickets purchased for the Sideways 20th Anniversary Festival include entry to this event.

Event Summary

As the West’s most respected travel and lifestyle authority, Sunset Magazine is partnering with another western icon – Visit the Santa Ynez Valley – to present Taste of the Santa Ynez Valley.

The four-day, six town celebration of food, wine, and more takes place September 26th – September 29th across the towns of SolvangSanta YnezLos AlamosLos OlivosBallard, and Buellton. Among the many highlights of Taste of the Santa Ynez Valley include curated wine tastings, chef-driven long table dinners, lunches and activities, and events hosted by Sunset editors, all celebrating the many special offerings of this powerhouse California wine country destination.
